Should we crate our dog in the bedroom, or leave her in her crate downstairs for the night?

Our puppy is a six month Great Dane mix. She's housebroken and makes is through the night without any accidents. The issue is she's incredibly active at night, as well as destructive. I've woken many mornings to find pieces of clothing ruined. We have a crate for her in the kitchen for during the day, which is unfortunately where she's been ending up the past few nights. I've read a bunch of books and articles that talk about how improtant it is for dogs to sleep with their "pack". She's not allowed in the bed...so should I crate her in the bedroom at night or leave her in the crate in the kitchen?
