Advice for self taught Italian?

Hi, I am looking for help as I am teaching myself Italian, I have downloaded an app called Byki Italian as a start and google translate, however for example I have leart the words for can you help me? Now one version gives me Puo aiutarmi and another is potete aiutarmi, which one is correct and why? Can you also give me some advice on furthering this? Thanks
