Is there a religion of understanding/respecting or maybe one of just bettering man kind in general?

i believe in few things as far as religion goes, i dont believe in god and i thought for a while that i was just an atheist. then i thought (i respect all religions but dont believe them myself and all i really want is for people to undersand and respect eachother like i do) so my question is this is there a religion that isnt really based on gods or such but instead one about furthering man kinds understanding and respect for ourselves? and if not why?
