What steps to take when breeding a Dog?

I have had my great dane for over two years now, she will be 3 soon. I have cared for her since birth but I think I would like to breed her once. I want to make sure I go about everything perfectly but I am unsure how to even find a stud in my area. I have done a lot of research but I still want more advice so I know for sure I will do nothing wrong.
