Great dane behaviour?

I have a male and female and they have just had their first litter (and last) they are so close but they have started doing this weird thing. They are like walruses! Mouths open pretending to kiss with their paws cuddling each other. They have never done this before and its sweet to see. Im curious as to what they are doing. Can anyone help?
