URGENT! I stepped on my cat by accident!?

Okay, so I was going up the stairs, and then my cat came running on the same step, and I stepped on him, causing him to run down the stairs and into a dusty corner in the washroom. He finally came out, making this wired noise, kind of like he was crying. When he came out, I saw that his nose was bleeding. I;m not sure if its bleeding because I stepped on him, of if maybe he hit his nose on something, or maybe if the dust caused his nose to bleed. Any Way, I dont know if I should take him to the vet, if I do I cant do it for a few hours, so is there anything I can do right now to help his pain? He's not eating his food (it is only four thirty, and we usually feed him around six or seven) he's not playing with his toys, or anything. I really need to know what I should do!!
